This blueberry mojito mocktail is ultra easy to prepare and so delicious! Feels like summer in a glass and makes for the most amazing refreshing drink to sip on during a hot day. Includes blueberries, fresh mint, lime juice, sweetener and sparkling water, plus it is ready within 5 minutes!

Here is my newest obsession: blueberry mojito mocktail!

It is summer time right now which means that I want all the fruity drinks!

Especially mojito mocktails: they are simple, quick, refreshing and even though made without alcohol, they are certainly a great way to treat yourself after a long day.

I actually make fruity mocktails all the time. Summer or winter or fall, doesn't really matter. You actually don't need a good reason to make yourself a fancy drink. Mojito mocktails are easy enough to whip up within 5 minutes, but also festive enough to show off at a party.

Some of my favorite mocktails are strawberry mojito mockail and watermelon mojito mocktail, but since I LOVE making drinks with blueberries, I thought a blueberry mojito mocktail was missing on my blog.

And wow, the combination of blueberries with fresh mint, tart lime juice and sparkling water makes for a perfect match in flavors. This drink is perfectly sweet vs zesty vs sparkly and it is SO ridiculously easy to make! All you have to do is crush some blueberries with mint, sweetener and lime juice in the bottom of your glass and then, top it off with ice cubes and sparkling water or soda water.

Perfect to sip on during a hot summer day on the patio for the ultimate refreshment or anytime you feel like a zesty bubbly drink that has a good punch, but without the alcohol. And next time you are throwing a party, then be sure to turn this recipe into a non-alcoholic blueberry mojito pitcher for everyone to enjoy!

Let me know if you gave it a try! ❤️

    Why you'll love this recipe

    • Easy and quick to make
    • No simple syrup to prepare and no cooking required
    • Convenient single-portion drink
    • Mouth-watering flavors
    • Refreshing and perfect non-alcoholic drink for hot summer days
    • Healthy, hydrating and contains a lot of antioxidants from the blueberries
    • Mojito mocktails can help you drink less alcohol!
    • Festive and appetizing
    • Perfect for family gatherings, bridal showers, dry January, baby showers, Mother's day, etc. Your whole family can enjoy it, including kids!
    • Versatile and can easily be modified to your taste

    Ingredients you'll need

    • Fresh blueberries: I used a small handful of sweet blueberries, about 15 in total. You can use more or less and also, feel free to use frozen blueberries if that's all you have, although the flavor is a little better when using fresh berries.
    • Fresh mint leaves: can be found all year round in most grocery stores. Don't even think about using dried mint!
    • Lime: you will need fresh lime juice for best flavor, do not use bottled juice!
    • Sweetener: I love using maple syrup to sweeten drinks as it dissolves easily in the liquid, making it non-gritty, plus I enjoy its mild caramel-like flavor. But, feel free to use any sweetener you prefer, such as simple syrup or even granulated sugar (raw sugar can actually bring an added texture!).
    • Sparkling water: seltzer water, club soda or soda water all work well. I often simply use plain sparkling water, although lime-flavored sparkling water works out perfectly too and will add an extra zesty flavor.
    • For serving: ice cubes to make this drink nice and frosty.

    Recommended tools

    1. Serving glass: I prefer to use a tall glass to serve mojitos as I find it easier to muddle the ingredients at the bottom of the glass. A mason jar would also be great!
    2. Muddler: used to crush the ingredients by hand, you can find muddlers easily online (under 10$). You can also use the back of a spoon to crush the fruits if you don't have one.
    3. Straw or stirring spoon: I think mojitos are best enjoyed with a straw, which I also use to stir in the glass. Or, simply use a spoon to stir and drink it without a straw.
Showing are the ingredients needed to make this recipe.

How to make a blueberry mojito mocktail

All done within 5 minutes without any fuss. This is a one-portion drink recipe, but you can make a few in a row without much more prep time needed.

    Muddle

To your serving glass, add the blueberries, fresh mint, sweetener and lime juice. Then, crush the ingredients right in the bottom of the glass using a muddler or the end of a wooden spoon. This should take about 15 seconds!

    Finish up

Then, simply fill up your glass with some ice cubes and more blueberries if you would like, right on top of the muddled fruits and herbs.

Pour the sparkling water over and give it a stir. Taste to adjust tartness and sweetness to your preference. Decorate with more mint leaves, slices of lime and blueberries. Enjoy right away!

    Helpful tips

    • If using frozen blueberries, then add them to the bottom of your glass and give them a few minutes to thaw at room temperature. This will make them easier to crush.
    • I used Bubbly sparkling water this time, but I am actually not a huge fan of super sparkly drinks. Because of this, I like to also use Perrier to make mocktails as I find it less sparkly.
    • If you didn't want to have any pieces of fruit or mint in your drink, then you can make your drink using a cocktail shaker, then pour your mojito in a serving glass while straining it using a fine mesh strainer.

    Serving suggestions

I like to serve this delicious mocktail topped with extra fresh blueberries and mint leaves, plus a few lime wedges on the rim of the glass to add more zing as needed.

Mojito mocktails pair well with summery recipes, such as outdoor BBQ meals or simply vegan burgers, such as these chickpea burgers.

If serving them as an apero, then pair them with Mexican-style dips and tortilla chips, such as this pineapple pico de gallo, protein guacamole, roasted mango habanero salsa or spicy peach salsa.

Finger food would also work great with this blueberry mojito, such as these jackfruit nuggets served with a spicy dipping sauce, flatbread bruschetta with pesto or this vegan loaded nachos pan. Also makes for a beautiful drink to accompany fresh tofu spring rolls or salads, especially this mango and edamame summer salad.

But our favorite way to serve mojito mocktails is alongside tacos, where their fruity and zestiness blend so well with spiced Mexican flavors. Try pairing them with these vegan fish tacos, these taco walnut vegan tacos or my absolute favorite, vegan taquitos.

    Variations

You can make this drink yours by adjusting the ingredients to your taste very easily.

If you love extra citrusy drinks, then add more lime juice. If you are looking for a drink with a ton of antioxidants, then add more blueberries. And if you want it sweeter, then just add more maple syrup or simple syrup (check out this homemade simple syrup recipe!). Super easy and there is no going wrong here, you can experiment as you wish! Here are other ideas:

    • Fruit: feel free to make it with other berries, such as raspberries, blackberries and strawberries. You can mix and match a few of them too. Other fruits, such as peach and mango, also make for a great addition to virgin mojitos.
    • Creamy: for a creamy blueberry mojito mocktail, then add some canned coconut milk to your drink (about 2-3 tablespoons).
    • Tropical blueberry mojito mocktail: try using my passion fruit syrup as a sweetener instead of maple syrup for a nice island flavor or add some pineapple juice to your mocktail. You can also use coconut water when making it!
    • Frozen blueberry mojito mocktail: simply blend together the blueberries, mint leaves, sweetener and a handful of ice cubes (about 1 cup). Or simply use frozen blueberries instead of fresh. Blend or pulse until crushed to a desired consistency. Pour or scoop into your serving glass, pour some sparkling water over and enjoy right away.
    • Swap the citrus fruit: try using grapefruit, lemon or even orange juice instead of lime juice for a fun change.

    FAQ's

How can I make it without any added sugar?

I do like to add a little bit of maple syrup to my mojito mocktails, but this is completely optional. You can use sparkling water that tastes already slightly sweet (but still made without added sweetener) and the natural sweetness of blueberries will also complement the flavors of your drink.

Can I make this drink ahead?

Not really, since you would lose the bubbles from the sparkling water. You could crush the blueberries with the mint, lime juice and sweetener ahead, although this mojito is so quick to make that I don't see any big time-saving advantage to make any of the steps beforehand.

Can I make a large pitcher to serve a crowd?

Yes! Simply make a larger batch of about x4 or x5 times the recipe right into a pitcher to serve many people at the same time. Use a large wooden spoon to muddle the ingredients in the pitcher. Just wait until the last minute to pour the sparkling water so it stays nice and bubbly.

    Notes

    • Feel free to include other berries or fruits if you want, such as strawberries, mangoes, blackberries, peaches, etc.
    • You can also make it using frozen blueberries: add them to the bottom of your glass and let them thaw for a few minutes before crushing them.
    • You can make it sugar-free: simply do not add any maple syrup or sugar, the natural sugar from the fruits might be enough to sweeten your drink!
    • You can make a pitcher if you want to serve it to a crowd. Simply make a larger batch (about 4x or 5x times the recipe) and muddle the ingredients right into your pitcher using a large wooden spoon.
