If you enjoy milk teas, then you will love this homemade honeydew bubble tea! It is so fruity and naturally pretty sweet, thanks to the fresh honeydew melon. This refreshing drink is amazing to help you stay hydrated on a hot sunny day, plus it is super easy to make right at home with simple ingredients.
2-3tbspmaple syrupor to taste, omit if the honeydew melon is really sweet
½-1tspmatcha green tea powderoptional, for a brighter green color
Instructions
Add the tea bag to a small jar or mug and pour ½ cup of hot water over. Let the tea steep for about 5 minutes, then remove the bag. Let the tea cool down until ready to use (place in the fridge).
In a small sauce pan, bring about 3 cups of water to a boil and then add the uncooked bubble tea pearls. Let them cook for about 5-10 min (cook for 8-10 min for softer texture or 5-7 minutes for a chewier texture). Then, remove the pot from the heat and let the boba pearls sit in the hot water for another 3-5 minutes before draining them. Add a tablespoon of maple syrup (optional), stir and set aside until ready to serve.
While the boba pearls are cooking, make the honeydew milk. Peel and seed the honeydew, then roughly chop in cubes. Add the chopped honeydew to a blender alongside the milk, tea and maple syrup. I like to also add ½ teaspoon of matcha green tea for flavor, but also to help brighten up the beautiful green color.
Blend on high until very smooth. Taste and adjust flavor.
To serve, divide the bubble tea pearls in between 2 tall serving glasses, cover with ice cubes and then pour the honeydew matcha milk over. Enjoy right away.
